Oliver the Diabetic Cat

January 24, 2020

Over 16 years ago my family welcomed a little ball of fur into our home, a beautiful kitten who was left abandoned in the sawdust filled ditch that ran along our driveway. A beautiful friend who has become one of my greatest treasures and inspirations, Oliver’s unique personality has taught me so much about life. Love the outdoors, explore your world, and take time to relax!

Amazon S3 Glacier Storage – Photo Backup Tutorial (2020)

December 27, 2019

Amazon S3 Glacier storage is, in my humble opinion, the most accessible, cost-effective, and trusted choice for storing your photo archive on the cloud. Adventures in Whapmagoostui! (saved By Henrys)

November 17, 2019

Battling the arctic winds off Hudson bay and the deep snow on the ground, I slowly make my way back to my accommodations. Its 4:05 and the sun has already set, stars beginning to twinkle behind a cloud covered sky. I make a quick dinner and settle down with a tea in front of my computer, an electric heater beside my feet. Today marks the end of the third week I’ve spent on Hudson Bay and I’m missing the sun, stars, and warm weather! (*and my little brat Oliver*)

First Days in Whapmagoostui, QB (Great Whale)

October 23, 2019

My first few days in Whapmagoostui, Quebec (Great Whale River). Sub-arctic climate, wild wheat, stray jellyfish, and a lot of sand! Read about my experience landing on Hudson Bay and see some of the photos I took during my first week working there.

Infrared Photography Tutorial

October 15, 2019

Infrared photos are famous for their fascinating surreal look that cannot be easily reproduced within the visible spectrum. Whether black and white or colour, these photos use high contrasts and ‘false colour’ to add extra definition and a dissonant yet attractive character to any composition. Autumn at Algonquin Park

October 9, 2019
algonquin park cameron penny selfie

Algonquin park is ablaze with colour as the Sugar Maple leaves are now bearing intense red tones and the Aspens a golden yellow. Before yesterday, I hadn’t been to Algonquin Provincial Park in quite some time, forgetting how outrageous the canopy colours really are! If you have been looking for a place to go and are willing to travel a couple hours, keep this place in mind.

Photo Lab Review (Canada)

October 1, 2019

Over the last decade I have used several different photo labs to print my personal photos, from family snapshots to beautiful compositions. During this same time period I have noticed significant disparities between the prints I have received. Washed out or over saturated, blurry or oversharp, these images have caused me to wonder if there even are any quality standards among these “photo labs”! Scroll down and you’ll see what I’m referring to…
